The Personal Cost of Enforcing the Border

White House Border Czar Tom Homan, the man spearheading President Donald Trump’s
aggressive immigration crackdown, has made a stunning personal disclosure: he is living
separately from his wife due to a constant barrage of death threats. In a candid interview on the
New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast on Wednesday, Homan revealed the immense
personal toll of his high-profile role.
“My wife’s living separately from me right now, mainly because I worked for many hours, but
mostly because of the death threats against me,” Homan said. “She’s someplace else. I see her
as much as I can, but the death threats against me and my family are outrageous.”

A Duty to Serve

Homan, a 30-year veteran of immigration enforcement and former acting ICE Director, had
retired from government service but was personally called back by President Trump. He
recounted the phone call, telling the podcast, “The first thing he said to me was, ‘You’ve been
b****ing about it for four years. Well, come back and fix it.’ So how do you say no?”
Despite the personal sacrifices, Homan remains steadfast. “I felt a duty to come back. I’ve done this my whole career,” he explained. “I know how to help. I know how to fix it.”

Clashes with “Sanctuary” Democrats

Homan’s robust enforcement policies have put him in direct conflict with Democratic governors
of so-called “sanctuary states.” As reported by Fox News, Homan has been a vocal critic of leaders like New York’s Kathy Hochul and Illinois’s J.B. Pritzker, whom he accuses of undermining federal law and harboring criminals. This has led to high-profile confrontations, with some governors daring Homan to arrest them for their opposition to his enforcement actions.
Despite the political firestorm and personal threats, Homan’s strategies appear to be having a
significant impact. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently released data showing a
93% decrease in encounters along the southwest border in May 2025 compared to the previous
year. This historic drop is being touted by the administration as proof that their tough
enforcement approach is working.
