Mace’s Bold Move to Redirect Funds

Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina has introduced the Alien Removal Not Resort Stays Act – and it will take money from one nonsensical policy and give it straight to the people deporting illegal aliens.

Specifically, the legislation aims to halt the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) from using taxpayer dollars to house illegal immigrants in high-end hotels. Instead, the bill proposes to redirect these funds to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to bolster their efforts in detaining and deporting undocumented individuals.

Can you believe this is even a fight we need to have in the first place?

Mace’s initiative comes in response to growing concerns about the appropriate use of national resources under the current administration. The congresswoman argues that the existing practice of providing hotel accommodations for illegal aliens is not only wasteful but also counterproductive to enforcing immigration laws.

Representative Mace has been vocal in her criticism of the current administration’s handling of immigration issues for some time now. The GOP firebrand asserts that the past four years have seen a lax approach to illegal immigration, with sanctuary cities offering benefits and the Department of Homeland Security failing to enforce border controls effectively.

True!

“The past four years have been a free-for-all for illegal aliens—sanctuary cities handing out benefits and Biden’s DHS waving people through like it’s a theme park entrance,” Rep. Nancy Mace said.

The South Carolina representative’s stance resonates with many conservatives who believe that stricter measures are necessary to address the influx of undocumented migrants. Mace argues that the current policies not only strain national resources but also undermine the rule of law.

At the heart of Mace’s proposed legislation is FEMA’s Shelter and Services Program, an initiative that was originally created to support local governments and non-governmental organizations in assisting noncitizens released by immigration authorities. However, critics argue that the program has overstepped its intended purpose, leading to what they see as excessive spending on accommodations for illegal immigrants.

“The left has spent billions of our tax dollars housing illegal aliens in hotels. It’s insanity, and it stops now,” Rep. Nancy Mace said.

The program, which is funded separately from disaster relief efforts, received a substantial allocation of $650 million for the fiscal year 2024. Mace’s bill seeks to terminate this program entirely and prevent any future funding for similar initiatives. The act proposes to transfer all remaining funds from the Shelter and Services Program directly to ICE for detention and deportation operations.

Let’s hope this gets passed. We badly need it.
